Hello! Today I have a card and a video! Woo! I decided to participate in two challenges:

* The Embellish challenge – Lawn Fawn is sponsoring and there is a $25 gift certificate up for grabs!
* The Everything but the Kitchen Sink challenge – I made up the sketch this month and there is a great Love My Tapes prize!

I had so much fun making this card with Critters in the Sea and Harold’s ABCs! One layer cards are so fun, and who doesn’t love masking? 🙂

Here is my video! You can watch here or at You Tube.

Also, I was asked this question the other day by Christiana:

When you go to make a card, do you draw out a sketch first (and if you do, do you find supplies that inspire a sketch or do you draw a sketch and then try to find supplies that work?) or do you just go for it and see what happens?

I just go for it. There is usually no plan. The only time there is a plan is when I am participating in a challenge or when I get a new goodie that I just have to use! I just sit down and whatever is closest, I use! I kind of wish I did the sketch thing because it would be nice to plan ahead, but that just doesn’t work for me!
How do you make your cards? Are you a planner or a whatever happens happens kind of crafter? I would love to hear! 🙂

I hope you guys are all doing well! Hugs!

Woah. A layout! I have been getting the scrapbooking bug lately, and then I signed up for Kelly Purkey’s Sketchbook class, now mind you, I am 3 weeks behind, but I am trying! The sketches are so fun and the samples are amazing! So inspiring! This is my sample for sketch #1. This is when we celebrated my Grandfather’s (I call him Bilo) 80th birthday. He had so much fun blowing out the candles!

I absolutely LOVE journaling with Harold’s ABCs. It is so easy! And there is just something therapeutic about lining up the letters. Let me know if you have journaled on a layout with Harold’s ABCs. I would love to see it! I stamped here with dye ink because I wanted the texture of the paper to show through. I think it looks so cool!

I love the look of pleated paper. Since I am not the best with a sewing machine (read: I’ve almost sewn through my hand on more than one occasion), I actually put adhesive down first to pleat the paper and the stitching was just for show. The clouds are from Buzz and Bloom and I believe that almost all of this page is from a Studio Calico kit, I just can’t remember which one! But, oh, how I love SC!

Card stock: American Crafts
Patterned paper: October Afternoon, Pebbles, My Mind’s Eye, Studio Calico
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Harold’s ABCs)

Ink: Stampin’ Up! (close to cocoa)

Etc: Buzz and Bloom denim clouds, American Crafts Thickers, Jenni Bowlin Bingo Card, Sewing machine, Circle punch

Hello! Welcome to another 2 Sketches 4 You challenge! This week we have a gorgeous sketch and a fabulous prize: a 2S4Y guest DT spot! How cool is that? Today I made a card completely out of my normal element! I got the Basic Grey Curio line, and it is SO gorgeous! I was going to layer paper to create the off centered rectangle on the sketch, when I saw this paper that was already like that! I just had to use it!

Check out Laura’s fabulous sketch:

I just love it!

Here is a close up on my chipboard piece. I used my GCD Melody Ross chip art tools and my Claudine Helmuth paints to make this. It is so much fun to hammer those metal stamps into the chipboard. I think I like it too much. Haha! I painted the chipboard a tealish color, dried it, then covered the piece in a brown/glossy medium mix and then wiped it away for this antiquey look. I added black ink to the edges with a cat’s eye ink pad and then adhered the pearls. Seriously fun! The sentiment is from Sophie’s Sentiments. I have a few weddings coming up to go to, so this will be perfect!

So come along and play with us at 2 Sketches 4 You! We can’t wait to see your creations!
