Jessica joins us today to share a clever birthday card with a special detail! She featured our new Highland Cows with a fun tri-fold “bendi” card.

Our adorable new Highland Cows are right at home on the 3D layered hills of this clever tri-fold card! And since it’s a birthday card, Jessica added a sparkly black Giant Let’s Celebrate greeting! To recreate this design, check out the how-to steps below.

To create the layers for this hilly scene, she used Simple Grassy Hillsides and Simple Stitched Hillside Borders cut from Cilantro cardstock.

This special design opens to add a handwritten greeting inside and then folds flat for mailing.

Jessica’s directions:
- I blended my sky onto an A2 panel with distress oxide inks.
- Then I die-cut the Simple Grassy Hillside die from an A2 panel of cilantro cardstock to go over my sky panel.
- I cut a second A2 panel of cilantro cardstock with the Simple Grassy hillside die and the simple stitched hillside border dies. Then I blended Mowed Lawn distress oxide ink over the edges of the Cilantro cardstock.
- To create the bendi card I scored a ¼” line on the longer ends of both hills. On the taller hill I fussy cut a simple tab. I lined up that tab on the sky panel and used a craft knife to cut a slit where the tab could tuck into the panel.
- I also cut a small notch on the smaller end of the smallest hill and a notch on the bottom of the large hill. This allows the small hill to tuck into the larger hill. I adhered the scored edges to both sides of the sky panel.
- They can fold flat for mailing and then can be carefully bent and shaped to create the 3D card shape.
