mini sports blog hop!

Hello! Today I am doing a really fun mini sports blog hop! We are all picking our favorite football team and making a card inspired by the logo! You should have come from Lynnette’s blog! My favorite NFL team is the Miami Dolphins. I grew up in Miami and even had a Dan Marino doll as a kid! Haha!

This my Dolphins card! I, of course, had to use the dolphin from Critters in the Sea! I created some free hand cut waves from Core’dinations paper and sanded it some. I used Hats Off To You for the sentiment, and Partly Cloudy for the clouds and sun! I love how much our sun looks like the Dolphins logo. That wasn’t even planned at all! Erica drew that, and I am pretty sure she has never seen the Dolphins logo! It must have been fate! πŸ™‚

I used foam dimesion in a fun way on the dolphin. I put glue dots on his nose and tail and foam adhesive in the middle. He really looks like he is diving into the waves this way!

Your next stop on the blog hop is Brandi! Make sure to head on over to her blog to see all of the fun inspiration! πŸ™‚

This is an extra little quick card that I made from a scrap and only stuff I had on my desk! I thought that would be a fun challenge! I had originally thought my card above would be standard sized but instead I made it into a 4.25″ square, and I was left with this little strip. I sprayed it with a spray mist! I couldn’t believe it because I am kind of scared of them. I did it in my sink and then smeared it around on the card. I love how soft it looks! I made the flower with fabric paper and my new favorite Sizzix 3D flower die. I love that thing! It had been sitting on my desk for a while! The swirl is from Petite Florals. Lawn Fawn sets always litter my desk top! Hehe! πŸ™‚

I hope you all had great weekends! We are gearing up for Thanksgiving here and the new Lawn Fawn release! Posts start on Saturday the 28th for the December release! Woooo! πŸ™‚

Make sure to head to Brandi’s blog next if you are hopping along the sports blog hop! πŸ™‚

Here is a quick little card using Petite Florals and Just My Type, Too! I love that the sentiments from that set can work with any card! Here I stamped the flowers on my card and then overlayed paper pieced flowers with glue dots. I rolled the edges of the flowers for more dimension! I just love making flower gardens with Petite Florals!

First published Lawn Fawn

I thought I would show these cards today because I’ve heard that Card Creations: Favorite Occasions has a bunch of Lawn Fawn in it! I haven’t seen the magazine yet, but I can’t wait YAY! I can’t tell you how excited this makes me! Eeeeeks! So cool!! If you ever get published in print with Lawn Fawn, let us know when the magazine comes out so we can send you something! πŸ™‚

The cards I am showing you today are cards that were the first published Lawn Fawn cards! Yay! This one above has a fun story! We we first started designing, we decided to try making a photopolymer stamp at home. (My biochemistry degree came in handy! Haha!) The stamp we made was of the dog from Critters in the ‘Burbs. I made this card right away and then months later decided to submit it, and it was accepted by CARDS for the May 2010 issue! I couldn’t believe the first Lawn Fawn card ever made was accepted! Thank you so much to CARDS for taking a leap of faith with us!

This card also appeared in the CARDS May 2010 issue. This one doesn’t have as fun of a story, but I was over the moon when I knew Lawn Fawn would be in a publication!

This last card was the first published card in a Paper Crafts publication, Card Creations 8. Thank you so much to Paper Crafts for taking a leap of faith with us, too! This has a funny story in that it has Petite Florals’s original name in the supplies list, “Petite Petals”. A printing error in final production of Petite Florals gave the set a new name that we’ve come to love!  πŸ™‚

Thanks for following my trip down memory lane! πŸ™‚
