One of the things I love most is to combine cute stamps with messy inking techniques. Hi there, May Flaum here guest blogging and sharing a card I had entirely too much fun making. Whether I’m working on a scrapbook layout or card or something else entirely, I’m not known for being the most neat and clean stamper. So what is a crafter to do when she wants to mix the two? The answer, it turns out, is a pair of scissors.

I save scraps of my specialty stamping paper (watercolor paper can work nicely too) and I stamp with a staz-on or archival ink in black my images. This works best with images that are easily cut out – and that’s just one of the things I adore about this set! Then, I applied an assortment of distress stains and marker pens to the animals and kept blending and adding water to the colors until I liked the results. As you can see above, things get pretty messy!

The time consuming part is to hand-cut each animal. This goes much faster if you have the coordinating die cut set – but if you don’t you can also simply cut the images out as I have. What I like about this technique is that I can play with my messy inks but still get images that aren’t mangled or so grungy that they look strange.

Once all the animals and trees are cut out, I arranged them with a die cut polaroid (one of my faves!) onto a background that is inked and water splattered. A little ink around the edges of my polaroid, some twine, and of course my sentiment and this card is now full of zoo-tastic fun!

I will be sharing a layout with this stamp set on my blog soon, because these little critters are great for more than just cards I love them as layout embellishments.

I hope this project that I made to share with you here today. If you’d like to join me on a crafty adventure this summer, please do check out my new class Camp Scrap with Big Picture Classes. I’ll be crafting up scrapbook layouts, cards, mini books, and more and it is going to be a whole lot of fun – without any rules on what you have to do. With over 50 new projects made just for class and a very active classroom we’re going to have a lot of fun.  You can check out all the information here , and I also post about it each week on my blog.

What could be more fun? How about we give away a spot in Camp Scrap to one reader! You have through June 4th to leave a comment, and we will randomly pick one lucky winner for a spot in the class!

Thank you so much for visiting!
