Introducing!
Today is our showcase of Big Hugs Penguin! Waddle this way for a big hug! This adorable waddler has two uses! It’s perfect for sharing hugs anytime. It can be used on its own as the star of your winter-themed cards, or you can combine it with Big Hugs Pop-Up to create an interactive pop-up card! When you do, just open the card and let the surprise inside bring a smile to your loved one’s face! The adorable penguin raises their arms wider as the card is opened, adding whimsical movement to your card.
Design Team Inspiration
The design team has made the most amazing samples! We also have a video at the end showcasing some fun ways of using all these new goodies! Remember to click on the person’s name to see all of the details and then leave these wonderful DT girls some comment love!
Tammy‘s holiday card is so festive and fun starring the cute Big Hugs Penguin! She dressed up the penguin in a hat from Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-On, then she gave him a Cute Candy Cane! And she inked the background in icy winter color before adding Snow Flurries Backdrop and a holiday sentiment on a Simple Wavy Banner.
Jennifer decorated the front of her Big Hugs Pop-Up interactive card with little penguins from Toboggan Together (colored with the coordinating Coloring Stencils) and snowballs from Snowball Fight. To this cute little scene, she added Mini Snowflakes, Stitched Snowflake Backdrop and Giant Season’s Greetings all layered on a Stripes ‘n Sprinkles Autumn background.
Inside her card, Jennifer used more snowflakes with Big Hugs Penguin and a sweet holiday greeting from Merry Messages. I love how the penguin is juggling snowballs with the help of acetate strips. Jennifer cut the “snowballs” using coordinating dies from Be Hap-pea and Milk and Cookies. So clever!
June‘s Big Hugs Penguin card is so cheery! She combined Reverse Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Windows and Reverse Stitched Scalloped Circle Windows to create an interesting background. Then she added the sweet penguin with Mini Snowflakes, Merry Mistletoe and a bow from Build-A-Barrel Apple. And the layered Scripty Hugs greeting is just so perfect!
I love how Megan paired Big Hugs Penguin with Build-An-Igloo; they work together so well! She gave the igloo cool texture with alcohol markers before adding the Pixie Dust Sparkle snow on top! She borrowed a little fish from Build-An-Aquarium adding so much cuteness, then she finished the card with a Merry Messages sentiment!
Karin‘s Pillow Box is so charming with a sweet Big Hugs Penguin! She stamped a Tiny Tag Sayings to/from on the penguin belly then gave him a Santa hat and some rosy cheeks, too. It’s such a cute way to give a small holiday gift!
Elise‘s card is so cool! She combined Big Hugs Penguin with Quilted Diamond Backdrop and a custom sentiment made with Charlie’s ABCs!
Lynnette‘s interactive Big Hugs Pop-Up starts with an adorable card front pairing Peppy Penguin with our new Build-An-Igloo! She used Stripes ‘n Sprinkles Autumn paper for the background and a Stitched Rectangle Frame.
Inside, there’s more Stripes ‘n Sprinkles Autumn paper with snowflakes and a Merry Messages greeting. And of course, that cute penguin is ready for a hug!
Mindy got so creative making an adorable gift tag with the Big Hugs Penguin! She added a sweet little heart from Hearts and Stars Skinny Tag. Then she used the little tag from Build-A-Potion Bottle to add a hanger on top tied with ribbon. So cute!
Audrey‘s blue penguin is so whimsical! She dressed her up with a Favorite Flannel scarf from Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-On!
Grace‘s interactive card features the Big Hugs Penguin and Pinecone and Leaves Border! I love how she’s holding one of the pinecones! She inked a panel of Pixie Dust Sparkle cardstock with Merman ink before layering Giant Be Merry on top!
When you open the card, the penguin opens her wings for a big hug! And I love how Grace layered two Stitched Dens under the Big Hugs Pop-Up to look like the penguin is sitting on ice!
Grace added a plaid scarf and “knit” earmuffs to Big Hugs Penguin using Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-On. The little pine sprig and berries add just the right holiday accent!
