Adventures in Cardmaking is an Instagram stories series we shared in 2019. This summer we are bringing it back reimagined! Chari & Jenn have teamed up to bring you Adventures in Cardmaking LIVE! Introducing!

Today is our showcase of Quilted Star Backdrop and Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot Background Hot Foil Plate! This quilted backdrop with star shaped accents makes a charming background for a standard-sized card! The backdrop die works well for portrait and landscape cards and projects.

Add a fun foiled (so shiny!) itsy bitsy polka dot background to your landscape craft projects! These plates can be used with most hot foil machines and leave a shiny impression but no cut lines on your cards.

Design Team Inspiration

The design team has made the most amazing samples! We also have a video at the end showcasing some fun ways of using these fresh new sets! Remember to click on the person’s name to see all of the details and then leave these wonderful DT girls some comment love!

Elena‘s Treat Cart design is so cute! She cut the Quilted Star Backdrop from ombré Rainbow Ever After paper before layering it over white cardstock. Then she used a Stitched Rectangle Frame to complete the background. I love that she featured the cute Whoosh Kites mice in this happy scene!

Yainea also featured the happy mice of Whoosh Kites on a creative card! The shiny dots of the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot Background Hot Foil Plate look so special on this collage style card.

Yainea gold embossed the Give It a Whirl Messages: Friends greeting to coordinate with the gold polka dots! And I love how she used Turquoise Hemp Twine as the kite string, winding it around behind the sentiment circle! So clever!

It’s graduation season and Elise has a great design to celebrate those milestones! She layered a Blue Jay Quilted Star Backdrop over bright sunflower cardstock, school colors yay! Then she added the year with Louie’s 123s and a shine silver Scripty Congrats! A few bright stars finish this design!

Mindy featured a hot foiled polka dot background with a gold embossed Give It a Whirl Messages: Friends sentiment! All the shiny gold details make this simple design so special!

Marine‘s Whoosh Kites card is so summery and fun! With glittery silver stars peeking through the Quilted Star Backdrop its so perfect for sending July 4th greetings!

Megan used the hot foiled polka dots to add charming detail to her sweet Treat Cart design! I love her clever little scene arranged on a Stitched Circle and the way she framed it with the flag banners and a Bannertastic sentiment banner!

Baby cards don’t get much cuter than this adorable one by Audrey! I love how she paired the Quilted Star Backdrop with a Stitched Star Frame! The sweet little baby from Elephant Parade Add-On is so perfect to welcome a new little “star”!

Latisha‘s beautiful ink blending is so colorful and eye catching on the Quilted Star Backdrop! Then she continued the lovely colors with Giant Outlined Love Ya and the offset layered Scripty Love!

I love the look of hot foil on patterned paper! Grace added the shiny polka dots to a panel of Rainbow Ever After paper then she framed it with a Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Frame.

It’s the perfect backdrop for her beautiful garden combining Build-A-Drink Mason Jar Add-On with the coordinating Lantern and Lovely Lily of the Valley! She also included Scripty Hello and ladybugs from A Bug Deal and Hey Lady!

Introducing!

Today is our showcase of Cactus Border and Cactus Hillside Border! These straight and hillside cactus border sets are perfect for adding a desert backdrop to your cards and crafts! Use your favorite cardstock or patterned paper for a unique look each time!

Design Team Inspiration

The Cactus Hillside Border is so perfect for creating desert themed scenes for our Critters in the Desert! Elise paired two layers of green cacti with a bright yellow Mr. Sun to set the stage for the adorable critters!

Audrey‘s design is so clever and absolutely gorgeous! She began by adding bright color to the background with Draped Ribbons Stencil. Then she kept Cactus Border, Giant Outlined Gracias and the Simple Puffy Cloud Frames white for beautifully unique contrast!

The Ta-Da! Diorama! Sunburst Window Add-On makes a perfect frame for Yainea’s cute desert scene! She used both the Cactus Hillside Border and just the smaller cacti from the Cactus Border to add so much fun to her design!

Elena‘s window design is so clever as it puts the focus on the cute desert vignette! I love how she layered two Cactus Hillside Borders in a circle frame, letting the cacti overlap on the sides! Then she added the cute little snake with a birthday cake in the foreground, so adorable! The Radiant Heart Backdrop is so perfect in the background. Be sure to watch the intro video below to see how to recreate this clever card!

I love how Mindy paired the Cactus Hillside Border with Desert Canyon Backdrop! It creates a scene that is so perfect for the cute Critters in Desert!

Megan added the Cactus Border to her fun file folder card design! The Critters in the Desert scene in the circle is so cute with the additional road runner border scene at the bottom. Such a clever and creative design!

Latisha combined both Cactus Border and Cactus Hillside Border to create a fun backdrop for the Sometimes Life is Prickly porcupine! So sweet!

Grace‘s window card is amazing! Secret Garden Window frames a gorgeous desert scene featuring Cactus Hillside Border! She also used Mr. Sun and Sunray Background Stencil to fill the background. Then she added the cute Fly High mouse in a hot air balloon colored to complement the Rainbow Ever After paper!

Marine‘s Critters in the Desert scene is so much fun! She used all the delightful critters and scene builder images to create a fantastic birthday card! I love how she used Cactus Border to define the background, adding great dimension to her design!

Rebecca’s happy Cactus Border design is full of sunshine with Mr. Sun and a fun greeting from Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Spring! I love the layers of Scalloped Fringe Border! It creates a sandy desert look that is so clever!

These giant sentiments fit a standard sized card for quick cards with lots of pizazz! These Lawn Cuts sets come with two layers to help quickly create a two-toned look!

Design Team Inspiration

Grace‘s “spicy” card is so much fun for sending a special thank you! She featured Giant Outlined Gracias with tacos from Year Nine, avocados from Let’s Toast and a cactus from Critters in the Desert! I love how she used a pea pod from Be Hap-pea to create a chili pepper! So clever!

Megan‘s Giant Outlined Thanks card is so perfect for Father’s Day! She combined cute critters and treats from S’more the Merrier with a fun sentiment from Dad + Me!

Marine‘s beautiful card design is a thoughtful way to send thanks to a special teacher! She started by stenciling Birch Trees in the background before adding cute images from So Owlsome! The Giant Outlined Merci looks so amazing in Woodgrain cardstock with a pop of yellow!

Elise created a thank you card that is so amazing! She filled the card with Bunting Background Stencils in a rainbow of pretty color. Then she cut the solid part of the Giant Outlined Thanks with a light gray cardstock before layering just the thin inner part of the die cut in coordinating colors of Pint-Sized Patterns Summertime! So clever!

Elena‘s card is so lovely featuring bright Zesty Lemons! She used just the inside of the Giant Outlined Merci to create a delicate greeting. Then she framed everything with Scalloped Fringe Borders to complete this special design!

Yainea created a collage-style card featuring Giant Outlined Gracias! She cleverly combined Pint-Sized Patterns Summertime with Rainbow Ever After papers, using a torn edge to create fun detail! And she also included a Scalloped Fringe Border and Sunburst Backdrop!

Melissa created a set of thank you cards using all three of our new Giant Outlined dies! She used the same card recipe for each card, Quilted Star Backdrop, Embroidery Hoop Window and Frame Add-On, Stitched Sentiment Banners and coordinating colors of hemp twine!

Audrey featured the giant greeting on a unique and creative design! She used Stitched Speech Bubble Backdrop with Stitched Speech Bubble Frames. I love the contrast of the black and white card components with the rainbow striped shaker window!

Giant Outlined Merci looks so pretty in pastel! We repeated those colors in the Scalloped Arches Borders on this simple design!

Chari‘s bright and cheery Giant Outlined Gracias card features Mr. Sun and Quilted Star Backdrop! I love the sparkle from the glittery cardstock!

Latisha featured a bold Giant Outlined Merci on a Draped Ribbons Stenciled background! The addition of the gems on the “ribbons” is such a great detail!
