Design Team Inspiration

The design team has made the most amazing samples! Remember to click on the person’s name to see all of the details and then leave these wonderful DT girls some comment love!

Megan used non-traditional holiday colors to create a String of Lights Backdrop card filled with so much joy! The Favorite Flannel London Fog background looks so good with the bright colors of the light bulbs. It also coordinates perfectly with the Blue Jay cardstock that Megan used for Scripty Joy and the sentiment banner. Then she added a sweet message from Joy to All!

Elise created her lovely holiday card using pretty pastels of Candy Cane Lane for the light bulbs and the background. Then she created a bold greeting by white embossing the Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Winter greeting on black sentiment strips. And then she added some gold stars to add a perfect finishing touch.

Marine got really creative, using String of Lights Backdrop to make an amazing Halloween card! She stenciled a cool spiderweb background before layering the String of Lights Backdrop over the top. Then to add Halloween cuteness, she added candy corn from Build-A-Cauldron and smiling spiders from Cute Cobweb. The glittery light bulbs and silver embossed sentiment add some fun bling!

Latisha‘s holiday design is so elegant with gold and silver sparkle cardstock and Giant Happy Hanukkah!

Mindy created a super fun shaker card with String of Lights Backdrop! She adhered a panel of acetate behind the backdrop, then using foam strips she added the Christmas lights over a mix of sequins. Then she added a greeting with Merry Messages.

Yainea combined Candy Cane Lane papers with a polka dot pattern from Rainbow Ever After! She cut a striped paper from Candy Cane Lane with a Stitched Rectangle Frame to finish this beautiful backdrop. The greeting is a Winter Big Scripty Words coordinating Lawn Cuts die that she cut from shimmer cardstock and layered on a vellum strip.

Tammy used the String of Lights Backdrop to accent her cute Build-A-Snowman scene! The Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Winter message pops against the dark blue background. So pretty!

Audrey‘s card is so gorgeous! I love how she added a watercolor glow behind the colorful lights! She also used Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Winter to add a greeting to this simply amazing card!

Elena used the 6×6 size of the Candy Cane Lane Snow Flurries pattern as the background for her festive card! I love how she used the loopy lines of the String of Lights Backdrop to stamp her fun sentiment using Offset Sayings: Christmas.

  1. Fun cards with the light strands. YES! We love decorating with lights. My husbands decorates the entire house, climbs on the roof and goes to town! I think we may have the brightest house on the block hahaha

  2. I do love having lights on my house during the holiday season. I also love having my Christmas tree lights on in the early morning when it’s dark and quiet — very soothing.

  3. I usually use string lights on the Christmas tree. I can’t manage anymore as its always me who has to take them all down again lol.

  4. We do lights everywhere….my daughter goes a little crazy and grabs all the extras we accumulated over the years and lights up the whole interior of the house.

  5. Yes the lights make everything so pretty. My husband made a big cross with white lights and placed in the woods on the bank in front of our house so people can see it when driving by up or down the hill we live on.

  6. My dad had me help put up strings of lights at the beginning of December every year, since I was 10 years old. It has now become a tradition for me to put up lights. I still do it and I love the way it makes everything so much brighter during the month of December!

  7. Strings of lights are an absolute must for the Holidays. The days are short and those tiny lights make everything cozy and warm. Love the new string of lights backdrop – great for so many holidays, seasons and crafting techniques.

  8. I used them a lot but since electricity became so expensive, I switched to battery powered ones. They are smaller and less bright but more free to place

  9. My hubby always decorates the house with strings of lights for Christmas. On the years we spend Christmas in the RV in FL he decorates the RV with lights!

  10. I love putting up string lights in the house, on the tree, outside on the house and as a border around the yard for my outdoor display! There can never be too many lights!

  11. I love lights. They are so pretty to sit and look at. I have different pairs of cardboard glasses that will put different images around each light. They are so fun to use,

  12. Oh my!!! Strings of lights are my favorite holiday, or anytime, decorations. They make everything look better and funner. I love this new die backdrop!

  13. I don’t use strings of lights much, but I do have electric candles that go in my front windows for Christmas.

  14. I like to decorate the tree with a couple other things to hang up, but other than that, that’s it for decorating for me 🤩

  15. I love to decorate with light. I put them in the tree, but also in the rest of the livingroom, in the garden and the front of the house.

  16. My daughter keeps strings of lights in her room year round. Our current Christmas tree has lights already on it so it just has to be plugged in.

  17. My go to for Christmas decorating are warm white clear string lights on my tree and battery operated twinkle lights tucked among greenery and pine cones in clear vases.

  18. Stings of lights are put up on the roofline but we’re seriously thinking of installing permanent lights for year round effects. Otherwise, they’re used on the stair railing and fireplace mantle.

  19. We moved into our new house earlier this year, so we are excited to figure out where we’re going to put all the lights!

  20. I love twinkle lights on my Christmas tree! Now that I have a fireplace, I string lights on the mantle too. For Halloween, I put orange and purple twinkle lights around the candy bowl; it’s a fun surprise for the kids to see when I open the door.

  21. The older we get, the harder it is to put lights up outside for Christmas. Maybe we’ll hire someone to do it for us…
Lots of lights on our tree and throughout the house.

  22. I do. I decorate my outdoor landscape with strings of warm white lights, wrap garland around my banisters and weave lights throughout, and have them on my tree. The warm glow just makes my entire house feel cozy.

  23. I love decorating with strings of lights. I have lights everywhere! Love this string of lights die! Can’t wait to use it all the time.

  24. Like I wrote about the candy yesterday; the more the better!! 😍 Around the house, in the tree, outside the garden….

  25. We love decorating with strings of lights – inside, outside, all around! We also have Hue light bulbs in all our lamps inside the house so we can change the color just by using an app on our phones – no matter what the season or holiday we can change the atmosphere of a room! Especially like turning the bulbs to a soft amber glow for Fall!

  26. Love the string of lights, always goes up thanksgiving weekend and come down after New Years. Multi color or clear, I love them all!

  27. There is just something warm and cozy about having strings of lights decorating both outside in the bushes, trees and on the inside!!! Thanks for all the ideas…they are GREAT!!!!

  28. I put strings of icicle lights around the outside of my house and net lights on the bushes. Inside, I place strings of lights around my fireplace.

  29. We had a string of lights around the tree in our garden, but it got damaged somehow in spring and snapped in two 😳 it was a very cold and snowy winter, so maybe it got too cold

  30. Yes! We always decorate with Strings of Lights. The day after Thanksgiving I have my Husband out there making sure they get up on the house and he always goes a little further and puts them on the tree we have out front. We also have a string of lights on our patio year round 🙂

  31. Oh, goodness! I love strings of Christmas lights!! They put the joy, light and hope into the bleak of winter. Besides lights on the tree, I put them on my banister, around my front door and swagged under my front window, done all with greenery. Last year, we added permanent holiday lights to the house. They’re the best!!! No more getting up on ladders and roofs for these old bones!!😅

  32. Lights are definitely part of the festivities. With it being dark so early in the day it really brightens and makes it lively. Nothing more magical than seeing lights shine against the snow too!

  33. Because I decided I need to keep my tree up from day after Thanksgiving until the Day of the Epiphany, we have a fake tree with lights already in it. I change them when the mood hits from white to colored. Love having a choice but really miss a real tree.

  34. I love to decorate with strings of lights during the Holidays .The Christmas tree is so beautiful with all of the lights glowing.
I also like to add strings of lights to shelves , with mini winter houses also aglow…so pretty

  35. My husband still decorates the outside of our house and it is always beautiful! The lights on the tree are special and we can change from white to multicolor lights to match our mood! Thanks for sharing! 😊💕🌲

  36. Since my Best Gal wore a string of lights at my wedding, I have loved the portable set. I have my own, which I like to imagine wearing every now and then. They always make me feel festive!

  37. Well, it’s funny you should ask. I LOVE strings of lights – and not just for Xmas. But my hubby is not a fan of putting them up outside and I’m not a very handy person (he is). So we compromise and have a couple up indoors where it’s warm for him to do setup/takedown and I still get the effect of the beautiful soft light.

LOVE all these examples today. The DT has absolutely CRUSHED it!

  38. I put up string lights in my front bay window. I used to put three strings of lights on my tree, but I got smart last year & bought a pre-lit tree (love!).

  39. We have strings of lights on both the big Christmas tree in the living room and the tiny tree in my craft room. Decorating for holidays is one of my favorite things!

  40. I love to put colorful lights up on the fence railing outside, and on the stair railing inside, oh and of course on the Christmas tree.

  41. When our kids were young, we would light up the outside of the house. Now, I decorate the porch and light up the Christmas tree and fireplace inside.

  42. We love decorating with strings of lights! That goes for indoors and outdoors. Winter can be so dark so we need them to light up the night!

  43. I love to lit up the dark season with lights, especially strings of light. I add them wherever I can, in the tree, on the dinner table, outside and on the window sil.

  44. I love the String of Lights backdrop and all the cards in this inspiration bog. I decorate my christmas tree colored twinkling lights and decorate my wreath and evergreen swags with clear lights.

  45. I love strings of lights! We have some in our backyard that we change out the bulbs for different seasons, so we have lights in our yard all year long!

  46. I love decorating for the holidays! But my favorite Halloween and Christmas decorations to decorate with, and to enjoy at other people’s houses are the lights!!! There is just something about those lights that I just love!

  47. We love hanging lights! We have a set of snowflake lights that we hang every year and we have gone through different styles over the years but the snowflakes have been the tradition for the last few.

  48. I love this backdrop die! I decorate with string lights on my tree, mantle and kitchen table! Oh, and we decorate the outside!

  49. We have lights that change colour & move to music. I love them!! Here in Alberta we usually have snow & there is nothing better than Christmas Lights with a snowy backdrop.

  50. I definitely like to decorate with strings of lights during the Christmas holiday season! As a matter of fact, we decorated a tall plant with strings of lights instead of a pine tree.

  51. We use lights and lighted snowflakes on the railing of our deck. We also have lights on our tree and in the village below the tree.

  52. My daughters love to decorate their spaces with white lights all year around. My husband is in charge of the outdoor lights for the holidays.

  53. Love the cards from the design team. Yes I do like to decorate with lights for the Christmas season. Some years I do all white and other years the colored lights. Since my husband passed away I don’t put up as many lights any more due to my age. But I like to take rides in the evening to see the lights around the neighborhood and town.

  54. Love the string lights background die!! It’s so super cute! I definitely decorate with string lights in the house. The more the better!

  55. I definitely need lights on my Christmas tree. Just a simple strand – white or colored, but not flashing. I live this new background and all the design team samples.

  56. I love Christmas lights! Since we now have a two-story house, we’ve scaled back to just a few outdoor lights and nothing that requires ladders. Lights on our tree and on our banisters still put me in a happy holiday mood. 🙂

  57. I love decorating for all the holidays but Christmas is my favorite! There is something about a tree and lights that make me cheery!

  58. The inside decorations are my job. My husband does the outdoor lights that look like icicles. I like the blow ups more than the lights.

  59. Yes – the lights go around the trees on the front lawn …. we have a prelit Christmas tree now, so they don’t get placed there any more!
