Hello there! My name is Mendi and I’m thrilled to be a guest on the blog today. I’m super excited to share a few of my recent creations using some of the newest Lawn Fawn stamps!
My first card features the adorable “Fintastic Friends” set with the irresistible fish bowl. To start I cut a panel 4.25″ x 4″ from white cardstock and then used a circle die to cut out the semi-circle from the top. I then set to work sponging on Distress inks. When I was done, I took that same color of Distress ink and used the various bubble stamps in the set to stamp on a random background pattern.
When I was done, I felt like the top of my card was a bit empty so I sponged on some more Distress inks in the corners to give my little fish bowl a bit of a frame. To tie in the sentiment strip, I inked it up using those same colors of ink before stamping “best fishes”. The rest of my images were colored using Copic markers.
For my next card, I wanted to create the look of an aquarium so I die-cut my cardstock and vellum using the negative space created from the Stitched Scalloped Borders. To give my card a bit of dimension, I stamped the reef images as a border on the cardstock layer so that it could peek through the vellum. I wanted to use the Stitched Labels for my sentiment, but they wouldn’t quite fit so I decided to put part of the phrase on the label and spell out the remainder using Finley’s ABCs dies.
Up next is a card featuring the darling “Let’s BBQ” set. All the images are just so cute that I wanted to try to fit as many of them as possible on my card. I decided a grid design was the perfect way to achieve that. I think the sentiment is perfect for a summer birthday or to hold onto until next Father’s Day.
My last card features more of the same adorable images. I decided to reserve the cute little faces for the mustard and ketchup bottles to reinforce my sentiment. To stamp them it on 2 separate lines and in different colors I ended up cutting the stamp apart. There are ways to get around this, but doing it this way just makes it so nice and easy.
I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out your stamps and have fun coloring. I took a bunch of these stamped image me on a summer road so that I could color and cut them out while on the go. It was so nice to have them ready to go when I got home!
Thank you so much for sharing your adorable cards with us today, Mendi!
