Lawn Fawn Video {2.10.24} Jessica’s Interactive Light-up Lighthouse Card

Today Jessica shares a special interactive card design! She shows us how to create a light-up card using a magnet activated circuit with Chibitronics products. You can watch the video below or click HERE to watch at our YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for watching, I hope the video inspired you to try something new!

Jessica created her stormy scene using images from Smooth Sailing, Cloudy Stencil and Ocean Wave Borders. She used Distress Oxide Inks to add color to the scene and colored the stamped images with Copic markers.

All the fun interactive magic happens “behind the scenes” on this card. In the video, Jessica shows how to use conductive fabric tape, a reed switch and an animating blink LED light to create the circuit. She used magnets to attach the sailboat to the right side of the card. Then when you move the sailboat to left side, the magnet activates the reed switch under the waves to light up the lighthouse.

This clever light-up lighthouse theme goes so well with the sentiments from Smooth Sailing!

Thank you so much for this clever inspiration, Jessica! Your card is so clever and fun!

  1. What a great card!!! Wonder if it would have been possible to make the sailboat slide to set off the lighthouse.
    Love this card!

  2. Terrific card, Jessica. Would the recipient know to move the sailboat without a note? I guess I would write inside for them to move the boat closer to the lighthouse. It’s a SPLENDID card! And I love the card itself, even if it did not light up. Wonderful colors, ocean and sky!
