Mimi’s Charming Cross-Stitched Mother’s Day Card

We are happy to have Mimi join us on the Lawn Fawn Inspiration Team! And her first project is so sweet!

Mimi started her Mother’s Day card using Foursquare Backdrop: Portrait and What’s Sewing On paper. After snipping out the center grid of the die cut, she layered another pattern of What’s Sewing On paper behind. Next, she cut the Embroidery Hoop from Shimmer Neutrals cardstock in beige. And she cut the top “metal” screw from silver shimmer from the same neutrals pack.

She cut the Embroidery Hoop heart pattern from white cardstock. Then she stitched it using 6 strands of floss in DMC 3688 and 3689.

For the custom embroidery, Mimi used 18ct cross-stitch fabric backed with a Double Sided Adhesive sheet, leaving the backing on. It adds stability to the stitched piece and also keeps it from fraying. Then she cross-stitched the letters with 2 strands of DMC 3687 floss. She stamped, colored and die cut the images from Sew Very Mice. A circle die from Out of This World Lawn Cuts fit the round hoop perfectly. To cut out the oval hoop she used a craft knife.

Then she layered the stitched pieces behind the colored images to spell out “mom”. Finally, she arranged all the Sew Very Mice images on her card along with her sentiment.

Your Mother’s Day card is so charming, thank you for sharing with us, Mimi!

Lawn Fawn Video {4.22.23} Mona’s One Layer Watercolor Card

Happy Saturday! We have a beautiful card and video for you today! Mona has created another wonderful coloring tutorial. You can watch the video below or click HERE to watch at our YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for watching!

Mona used Arches Cold-pressed watercolor paper to stamp the images from Sew Very Mice, How You Bean and How You Bean Buttons Add-On in Jet Black ink. Then she used Lawn Fawn ink to create a watercolor wash in the background, and also to color in the images. Check out the supply list below for the specific colors she used.

When all the watercolor was dry, Mona added in details with a white gel pen and a white pencil. I love the effect of her coloring on the jar, making it look rounded and so much like shiny glass.

Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial, Mona! Your card is so sweet!
